New Delhi, 3rd Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid heartfelt tributes to two towering women icons — Savitribai Phule and Rani Velu Nachiyar — on their birth anniversaries, recalling their enduring contributions to India’s social and cultural transformation.
Remembering Savitribai Phule, the Prime Minister described her as a pioneering social reformer who devoted her life to service and education. He said she stood firmly for equality, justice and compassion, and believed that education was the most powerful instrument for social change. Modi noted that her work for the vulnerable and marginalised continues to guide India’s journey towards building an inclusive and empowered society.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said Savitribai Phule’s dedication to knowledge and learning helped transform countless lives and remains a lasting inspiration for the nation.
Paying tribute to Rani Velu Nachiyar, Modi remembered her as one of India’s most valiant queens who rose boldly against colonial oppression. He said her courage, tactical mastery and commitment to good governance and cultural pride set a powerful example for generations.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Rani Velu Nachiyar’s sacrifice and visionary leadership continue to inspire India’s march towards progress, serving as a symbol of patriotism and fearless resistance.
