New Delhi, 16th Jan. As the party’s two-day national executive began in Delhi on Monday, ecstatic BJP workers and supporters lined the streets to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his roadshow.

The roadshow began at Patel Chowk and ended at the NDMC convention center, in an atmosphere enlivened by music and a cheering crowd. People showered Modi with flower petals and chanted pro-Modi slogans.

Huge cutouts of the prime minister were placed along the road, along with several posters highlighting various government initiatives and India’s G20 presidency.

At times, stages had been erected. Folk musicians from various states performed on some of them, while others played patriotic music.

J P Nadda, the president of the BJP, greeted Modi at the start of the party’s meeting, which began immediately after the prime minister arrived.

While Modi has frequently held roadshows, he rarely does so ahead of the party executive, which has been held several times in the national capital.

BJP leaders noted that Modi held a roadshow in Odisha ahead of the party’s national executive, and that the exercise was beneficial in galvanizing cadre and supporters.

With Lok Sabha polls due in the first half of next year, the enthusiastic roadshow will also help energise the party’s Delhi unit after its loss to the Aam Aadmi Party in the recent municipal polls, they said.
