New Delhi, 13th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted the sweeping transformation India’s textile sector has undergone over the past eleven years, calling it a period marked by historic growth, modernization and wider inclusion across the value chain.

Sharing an article posted by Union Minister Giriraj Singh, the Prime Minister said the country’s textile ecosystem has been fundamentally reshaped with stronger infrastructure, expanded domestic and global markets, enhanced skilling initiatives and deeper participation of workers—particularly women.

In his message on X, the Prime Minister wrote that the textile value chain today fuels job creation, women’s empowerment and global competitiveness, reflecting India’s rising stature in the global apparel and textile landscape.

He added that the article by Giriraj Singh “explains the evolution to the core” and urged citizens to read it for a comprehensive understanding of the sector’s journey.

The remarks come at a time when the government has been pushing major reforms and investment in the textile sector, including support for technical textiles, mega parks and export-led growth, aimed at positioning India as a global hub for high-value textile production.
