New Delhi, 16th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. The festival, which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, is a significant event for Hindus across the world.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote in Hindi, wishing that the “sacred festival of faith, joy, and excitement” would bring “new energy and new enthusiasm” to the lives of all citizens.

Janmashtami is celebrated with great devotion and fanfare. Devotees observe a day-long fast, and temples and homes are beautifully decorated with flowers and lights. At midnight, the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated with prayers and the distribution of sweets.
