Kuala Lumpur, 7th Feb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday for a two-day official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
In a special gesture, Anwar Ibrahim personally received the Indian Prime Minister at the airport, accompanied by Malaysian Minister of Human Resources Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan and Deputy Foreign Minister Dato’ Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni. The reception was followed by a colourful cultural welcome that showcased the shared heritage of the two nations.
This marks Modi’s third visit to Malaysia since 2015. The visit is aimed at further strengthening the India–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2024.
According to official statements, the trip reflects India’s commitment to deepening ties with Malaysia, which remains a key pillar of the Act East Policy, the Indo-Pacific vision, and the Vision MAHASAGAR framework.
The two leaders are expected to hold discussions on defence, economic cooperation, innovation and people-to-people exchanges, with a focus on expanding the strategic partnership into new areas.
