New Delhi, 5th June:
Marking World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday flagged off a fleet of electric buses in Delhi, under an initiative of the Delhi Government aimed at fostering sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions in the capital.

The launch of the e-buses comes as a step forward in the country’s efforts toward clean and green urban transport. The Prime Minister emphasized that the initiative would not only help build a cleaner, greener Delhi, but also significantly enhance the ‘Ease of Living’ for its residents.

Sharing the development on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote:

Building a clean and green Delhi!
Flagged off Electric Buses under an initiative of the Delhi Government aimed at boosting sustainable development and clean urban mobility. Additionally, this will also improve ‘Ease of Living’ for the people of Delhi.”

The electric buses are expected to reduce the city’s dependence on fossil fuels, cut down pollution levels, and set a precedent for other urban centres across the country. The move aligns with India’s broader climate goals under Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the push for eco-friendly public transportation.

The Centre and the Delhi Government have been working on multiple fronts to combat air pollution and enhance the quality of urban life. The launch of electric buses adds momentum to that collective vision.
