New Delhi, 4th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists on the occasion of International Cheetah Day, praising ongoing efforts to protect the species and restore India’s ecological balance.

In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister described the cheetah as one of the planet’s “most remarkable creatures” and extended his best wishes to all those working toward its conservation. He noted that three years ago, the Government launched Project Cheetah with the dual objective of safeguarding the species and reviving the ecosystem needed for its long-term survival.

Modi said the initiative represents a broader commitment to rejuvenating India’s lost ecological heritage and strengthening biodiversity. Project Cheetah, which reintroduced the species to India decades after its extinction in the wild, continues to be a flagship conservation effort.

Officials said the Prime Minister’s message underscores the importance of conservation-led ecological restoration and India’s growing commitment to protecting endangered species.
