New Delhi, 15th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke with Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take stock of the situation following a cloudburst and subsequent flooding in the Kishtwar district.

The Prime Minister’s office confirmed that he had assured the local administration of all necessary assistance from the central government. In a post on X, he stated, “Spoke to Jammu and Kashmir LG, Shri Manoj Sinha Ji and CM Shri Omar Abdullah Ji regarding the situation in the wake of the cloudburst and flooding in Kishtwar. Authorities are working on the ground to assist those affected.”

The cloudburst, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, has reportedly caused flash floods in several villages, leading to significant damage to property and infrastructure. While search and rescue operations are ongoing, the full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local administration have been deployed to the affected areas to provide aid and evacuate stranded residents.
