New Delhi, 21th Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his Japanese colleague Fumio Kishida on Tokyo’s successful moon landing and stated that India’s ISRO is forward to work with JAXA in the field of space exploration.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency led the operation that saw Japan become just the fifth nation to land a spacecraft on the moon on Saturday.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Modi had congratulated PM Kishida on JAXA’s first successful soft lunar landing. “He further said that the India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) looks forward to cooperating with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in space exploration,” said the statement. An equatorial crater was the site of Japan’s clever Lander for Investigating Moon (Slim) landing, which was heralded as a significant advancement in space exploration for the nation.
“Congratulations Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and everyone at JAXA on achieving Japan’s first soft Moon landing,” wrote Modi on X on Saturday night. India is eager for ISRO and JAXA to work together on space exploration.”
The US, China, India, and the former Soviet Union are the other nations that have conducted soft landings on the moon.
