Muscat, 18th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Thursday conferred with the prestigious Order of Oman by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in recognition of his exceptional contribution to strengthening India-Oman relations and his visionary leadership.
Accepting the honour, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the enduring friendship between India and Oman, describing it as a tribute to the warmth and mutual affection shared by the 1.4 billion people of India and the people of Oman.
The conferment of the award during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Oman added special significance to the occasion, as the two countries mark 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The honour further underlined the growing depth of the India-Oman Strategic Partnership.
Instituted in 1970 by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Order of Oman is among the highest civilian honours of the Gulf nation. It is bestowed upon select global leaders for their distinguished service to public life and for strengthening bilateral relations with Oman.
