Prime Minister recalls his contribution to journalism and Assam’s cultural life

New Delhi, 15th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the passing of Shri P G Baruah, Editor and Managing Director of The Assam Tribune Group, describing him as a distinguished media personality who made lasting contributions to journalism and the cultural life of Assam.

In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed grief over Baruah’s demise and paid tribute to his role in strengthening the media landscape of the Northeast.

“Saddened by the passing away of Shri PG Baruah Ji, Editor and Managing Director of The Assam Tribune Group. He will be remembered for his contribution to the media world. He was also passionate about furthering Assam’s progress and popularising the state’s culture. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister said.

Shri P G Baruah was widely respected for his leadership of The Assam Tribune, one of the oldest and most influential English-language newspapers in the Northeast. Under his stewardship, the publication played a pivotal role in shaping public discourse in the region and highlighting issues related to Assam’s development, society and culture.
