New Delhi, 2nd Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the demise of noted legal scholar, Professor Ved Prakash Nanda.
Modi said that Professor Ved Prakash Nanda’s work highlights his strong commitment to legal education.
“Deeply saddened by the passing away of Professor Ved Prakash Nanda Ji, a distinguished academic whose contributions to the legal field are invaluable. His work highlights his strong commitment to legal education. He was also a prominent member of the Indian diaspora in the USA and was passionate about strong India-USA relations. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister posted on X.

He was also the Founding Director and Director Emeritus of the International Legal Studies Program, as well as the Director of the Ved Nanda Center for International and Comparative Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
In 2006, Nanda received a $1 million founding gift from DU alumni Doug and Mary Scrivner, which was used to establish the Ved Nanda Center for International and Comparative Law. The Center began its programming in 2007, organizing events for lawyers, students, and community members, and promoting research in the field of international law.
Professor Nanda was recognized with the Padma Bhushan award in 2018 for his contributions to literature and education.
Sadly, he passed away on January 2, 2024.
