Kolkata, 31st Aug. Buddhadeb Guha, renowned Bengali writer and author of many brilliant works including Madhukari, died of a heart attack. He was 85 years old. Relatives said that he died late on Sunday night in a private hospital due to post-corona problems.
Condoling his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, Buddhadeb Guha’s writings were multifaceted and he was extremely sensitive to the environment. His creation was enjoyed by many generations. His passing away is a great loss to the literary world.
Family members of Guha said that he was admitted to the hospital earlier this month due to uneasiness and infection. Earlier in April, he was hospitalized for 33 days due to a corona infection.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also condoled Guha’s death, saying his death would leave a void in Bengali literature.
Buddhadev was born on June 29, 1936 in Kolkata.
