PM Modi Condoles Demise of Eminent Author, Odisha CM’s Sister Gita Mehta

New Delhi, 17th Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep grief over the demise of eminent author and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s sister Gita Mehta.
Gita Mehta, a well-known writer-director, died on Saturday in New Delhi. Mehta, who died at the age of 80, was Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s sister and Biju Patnaik’s daughter. Gita Mehta will be recognized for her NBC coverage of Bangladesh’s liberation war in 1971, as well as her acclaimed documentary “Dateline Bangladesh.” She is survived by her son.
Condoling her demise, PM Modi said, “I am saddened by the passing away of noted writer Smt. Gita Mehta Ji. She was a multifaceted personality, known for her intellect and passion towards writing as well as film making. She was also passionate about nature and water conservation. My thoughts are with @Naveen_Odisha Ji and the entire family in this hour of grief. Om Shanti.”
