New Delhi, 11th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the loss of lives in a tragic mishap in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district and announced financial assistance for the victims’ families.

In a message shared by the Prime Minister’s Office on X, PM Modi expressed deep grief over the deaths and extended condolences to the bereaved families. “Distressed by the loss of lives due to a mishap in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” the post read.

The Prime Minister approved an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased. Those injured in the incident will receive ₹50,000.

The announcement comes as rescue teams continue operations in the remote and rugged region where several labourers were killed after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge. The Centre’s assistance aims to support affected families as authorities continue to assess the extent of the tragedy.
