Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha on Monday, commended the armed forces and condemned opposition leaders, asserting that their careless remarks cannot undermine the forces, and the nation will not tolerate such rhetoric if they act as “agents” of any entity.

During his response to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address, Modi also rebuked those advocating for the country’s fragmentation. He questioned the intentions of individuals hinting at separatist sentiments, citing recent remarks made by Congress MP D K Suresh regarding alleged discrimination against south India by the Centre in fund allocation.

“Some individuals openly discuss the idea of creating a separate entity within the nation. Instead of fostering unity, they advocate division… Despite numerous partitions in our history, their appetite for division remains insatiable. How long will this continue?” Modi questioned.

Amid criticism from certain opposition members regarding alleged Chinese incursions into Ladakh, the prime minister reiterated his confidence in the resilience of India’s armed forces, dismissing any attempts to undermine their morale with disparaging remarks.

“If certain individuals believe that their reckless statements will demoralize our armed forces, they are mistaken. The nation will not tolerate such language propagated by those acting as proxies,” Modi affirmed.

Reflecting on the country’s progress over the past decade, Modi emphasized India’s enhanced security and diminishing threats of terrorism and Naxalism. He underscored India’s policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism, highlighting the recognition of the Indian armed forces’ capabilities both at the borders and at sea.

Modi concluded by remarking on the changing discourse around Kashmir, noting its significant development and increased discussion in Parliament, signifying a shift towards acknowledging its unprecedented growth.
