“Reprehensible Acts”: PM Modi Condemns Attack on CJI Gavai

New Delhi, 6th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the attempted attack on Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai that occurred earlier today within the Supreme Court premises.

The incident involved a 71-year-old lawyer, Rakesh Kishore, who attempted to throw a shoe at the CJI during court proceedings. The assailant was swiftly restrained by security personnel and later suspended by the Bar Council of India from practicing in any court with immediate effect

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi expressed his outrage over the incident, stating, “The attack on him earlier today in the Supreme Court premises has angered every Indian. There is no place for such reprehensible acts in our society. It is utterly condemnable.”

He further praised Justice Gavai for maintaining his composure during the ordeal, highlighting his commitment to the values of justice and the Constitution

The attack has sparked widespread condemnation across the nation, with political leaders, legal associations, and citizens expressing their outrage.
