New Delhi, 27th Dec. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 45th edition of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) today, reviewing eight major projects with a combined cost exceeding Rs. 1 lakh crore. These projects, spanning multiple states and union territories, include six metro projects, as well as road connectivity and thermal power projects.
In his address, PM Modi emphasized that delays in project implementation not only lead to cost escalations but also deprive the public of the intended benefits. He stressed the need for timely completion to ensure the projects’ positive impact on the people.
The Prime Minister also reviewed public grievances related to the banking and insurance sectors. While acknowledging the reduction in grievance disposal time, he underscored the importance of maintaining high-quality grievance resolution processes.
With metro projects becoming a preferred mode of public transport in cities, PM Modi advised conducting workshops for cities with metro projects under implementation or in the pipeline. These workshops will serve as platforms for sharing best practices and key learnings.
Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of timely rehabilitation and resettlement of families affected by project implementation. He directed officials to ensure ease of living for these families, providing quality amenities in their new homes.
PM Modi also reviewed the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, directing an increase in the installation capacity of rooftop solar systems in states and UTs. He urged the development of a robust vendor ecosystem and called for reducing the time required to operationalize rooftop solar units. He further advised a saturation approach for villages, towns, and cities in a phased manner to ensure widespread adoption.
Since its inception, the PRAGATI platform has reviewed 363 projects worth approximately Rs. 19.12 lakh crore, with the government focused on ensuring timely and efficient delivery of these high-impact initiatives.
