Amman, 15th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Amman on Monday and was accorded a ceremonial welcome, marking the beginning of his three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman.
In a special gesture reflecting the close ties between the two countries, the Prime Minister was warmly received at the airport by Jordan’s Prime Minister, Dr Jafar Hassan. The reception underscored the importance attached by Jordan to the visit and the growing depth of bilateral relations.
The visit to Jordan marks a significant milestone, as it is the first full-fledged bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 37 years. It also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold discussions with the Jordanian leadership on strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including trade, investment, defence, culture and people-to-people ties.
After concluding his engagements in Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia and Oman as part of his three-country tour aimed at reinforcing India’s strategic partnerships and engagement with the Global South.
