New Delhi, 18th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended a personal invitation to Pune-based Yogesh Siddhartha, a retired Indian Air Force officer, and his wife Sumita Siddhartha, to his home in a gesture of profound appreciation. The PM lauded the couple for their extraordinary initiative in addressing a critical challenge faced by Indian soldiers deployed at the Siachen glacier.
Recognizing the persistent issue of oxygen shortage experienced by soldiers in the world’s highest battlefield, Yogesh Siddhartha embarked on a mission to find a solution. In an act of remarkable selflessness and dedication, he reportedly sold all his personal savings and his wife’s jewellery to amass a total of ₹1.25 crore. With this capital, he successfully set up an oxygen production plant directly in Siachen.
This critical intervention has had a transformative impact, eliminating the oxygen shortage and now ensuring that approximately 20,000 soldiers receive the necessary oxygen supply.
