New Delhi, 26th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed deep grief over the tragic mishap in Markapuram district of Andhra Pradesh that claimed multiple lives.
In a message, the Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
Announcing financial assistance, Modi said an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured will receive ₹50,000.
“The mishap in Markapuram district, Andhra Pradesh, is tragic. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest,” the Prime Minister said in a post.
The announcement comes in the wake of a devastating road accident in the district, where several passengers lost their lives after a bus collided with a vehicle and caught fire.
Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations, while the injured are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals.
