PM Modi Addresses Plenary Session of Eastern Economic Forum 2022

New Delhi, 7th September. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stated that India is willing and ready to strengthen its partnership with Russia on Arctic subjects.

Addressing the Plenary Session of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok via video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi stated that there is immense scope for cooperation in the field of energy.

He stated that, in addition to energy, India has made significant investments in the Russian Far East in the fields of pharmaceuticals and diamonds.

The Prime Minister stated that in 2019, he had the opportunity to participate in this forum face-to-face, and at that time, he announced India’s Act Far-East policy.

As a result, he said, India’s cooperation with Russia’s Far East has expanded in a variety of fields. Mr. Modi stated that today, this policy has become a major pillar of India and Russia’s Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

In today’s globalized world, he said, incidents in one part of the world have an impact on the entire world. PM Modi said, the Ukraine conflict and the COVID pandemic have had a significant impact on global supply chains.

He stated that foodgrain, fertilizer, and fuel shortages are major concerns for developing countries.

The Prime Minister said, India has emphasized the importance of diplomacy and dialogue since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict.

He said, India supports all peaceful efforts to end the conflict.

This month marks the thirty-year anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate of India in Vladivostok, Prime Minister Modi said.

He said, India was the first country to establish a consulate in this city.
