Pilibhit- The dismembered body of a 16-year-old boy was recovered from a river in the Niuria police station area, police said on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Puranlal alias Sagar from Bithra village, was found in a sack with his severed hands and legs. Police, assisted by divers, retrieved the body parts on Friday evening.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Avinash Pandey confirmed that four teams have been formed to investigate the gruesome murder. Sagar’s family has accused a local resident, Shubham Valmiki, of the crime, alleging that he had threatened the boy a week earlier, ominously asking if he would play “Holi of colours or blood.”
According to police, Sagar’s body appeared to be 3–4 days old and was identified by a tattoo on his hand. SHO Niuria police station stated that Sagar left home on March 10, and his phone went silent soon after. His mother, Indravati, filed a missing person report after two days of searching.
A case has been registered, and the body was sent for post-mortem. The police are actively searching for Shubham Valmiki, who remains at large.
