Hyderabad, 13th Aug: Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has hit back at Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s threats regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, warning him with a “BrahMos” reference and stating, “He should not talk such nonsense.”

Owaisi’s comments came after the Pakistan Prime Minister addressed an event in Islamabad, where he vowed that India “can’t snatch even a single drop of water from Pakistan” and threatened to “teach you a lesson you will never forget” if India attempted to stop the water flow.

The Indus Waters Treaty was put in abeyance by India following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has stated that the 1960 pact will remain on hold until Pakistan “irrevocably gives up its support of terrorism.”

These remarks from Pakistan’s leadership have been met with strong responses from New Delhi. The External Affairs Ministry has previously stated that “nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade,” in response to a reported nuclear threat from Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. The ministry also made it clear that “India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail. We will continue to take all steps necessary to safeguard our national security.”
