Over 150 Countries to Celebrate Ayurveda Day 2024 on October 29

New Delhi, 23rd Oct. The Ministry of Ayush is gearing up to celebrate the 9th Ayurveda Day on October 29, 2024, with participation from over 150 countries worldwide. This year’s theme, “Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health,” aims to showcase the contributions of Ayurveda to global health and well-being. A grand event is scheduled at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating, “Ayurveda Day has now become a global movement. We are proud that as many as 150 countries are expected to join the celebrations.” He emphasized that the theme reflects Ayurveda’s pivotal role in promoting global health and the Ministry’s commitment to establishing Ayurveda as a robust medical system for public welfare.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, noted the ministry’s vision of integrating Ayurveda with contemporary science to tackle critical health challenges, including non-communicable diseases, mental health issues, and geriatric care. He mentioned the ongoing digital initiatives, including the Ayush Grid, which makes Ayurveda knowledge easily accessible through platforms like the Ayurgyan Scheme and Namaste Portal. Currently, Ayurveda is recognized in 24 countries, with products exported to over 100 nations.

This year’s celebrations are expected to draw significant participation from startups and industry leaders, placing Ayurveda at the forefront of global health innovation. Prominent Ayurveda experts expressed their optimism for the event, with a focus on encouraging young entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in Ayurveda.

Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor to the Ministry of Ayush, stated, “The theme ‘Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health’ underscores the extensive research in Ayurveda that demonstrates its scientific relevance in health promotion and disease treatment.” He stressed the importance of inclusivity in Ayurveda, stating it caters to people regardless of religion, ethnicity, or geographical boundaries.

Various Ayurveda professionals, including Dr. Mohan Singh from Jammu & Kashmir and Dr. B.J. Patagiri from the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), expressed excitement about the upcoming celebrations, anticipating a collaborative effort to create sustainable health solutions through Ayurveda.

The Ministry of Ayush continues to integrate Ayurveda into the global health landscape through initiatives such as the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre and the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Additionally, the “I Support Ayurveda” campaign aims to gather over 250 million votes in support of Ayurveda, building on last year’s success of 160 million votes.

As the world prepares for Ayurveda Day on October 29, 2024, the Ministry of Ayush and Ayurveda enthusiasts are excited to celebrate this unique occasion. With a combination of innovation and collaboration, Ayurveda is poised to offer sustainable health solutions that resonate globally.

Ayurveda Day is celebrated annually on Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras), and since its inception in 2016, it has gained immense significance worldwide. This year’s events will culminate in a closing ceremony on October 29, showcasing the importance of Ayurveda in health promotion and disease prevention through various nationwide activities.
