Chandigarh, 18th June. In a major overhaul, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced the transfer of over 10,000 police personnel in the Punjab Police following a high-level meeting on Tuesday.

Addressing concerns over corruption, Mann emphasized stringent accountability measures, warning that district officials would be held responsible for any corrupt or illegal activities within their jurisdiction.

“As Chief Minister, I have directed that any officer found involved in demanding bribes or engaging in illegal activities will result in the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police being held accountable,” stated Mann.

Highlighting plans to bolster police presence across the state, Mann disclosed intentions to recruit 10,000 new personnel across various ranks in the coming days. Acknowledging ongoing corruption reports at lower levels, Mann mandated the replacement of Munshis and Havildars with immediate effect.

Addressing the drug menace, Mann underscored the Punjab government’s commitment to attaching the property of drug dealers apprehended in the state, emphasizing strict enforcement of this directive.

“We have instructed Punjab Police to eradicate drug addiction as a mission on a war-footing,” asserted Mann, reaffirming the government’s pledge to deliver transparent and efficient administration to the public.
