New Delhi, 30th Jan. Mohammed Muizzu, the President of the Maldives, is under threat because of his hate speech towards India. The largest opposition party in the Maldives, MDP, has the option to file a motion in parliament to remove Muizzoo from office. Following this, Muizzu’s impeachment procedure will begin. What matters is that the MDP, the party of former President Solih, holds a majority in the Parliament. In this case, catastrophe clouds are gathering over Muhammad Muizzu’s chair. Maldivian Member of Parliament Qasim stated that he will make formal and professional requests for Maldivian President Muizzoo to retract his remarks to PM Modi and the Bharatiya government.

Opposing parties claimed
Although President Mohammed Moizzu of the Maldives, who is pro-China, has previously opposed Bharat vehemently, his autocratic tendencies are now becoming more apparent in the nation. He prevented the opposing parties from being admitted into the legislature. In the Maldives Parliament, there was a major commotion and brawl between the MPs at the same moment because the opposition had not approved the nomination of four cabinet members. In this battle, Muizzu’s MP was also defeated. Opposition parties now claim they have enough votes to remove Muizzu from office and that they will soon launch a significant campaign against him.
MDP has the most seats in the legislature
In the Parliament, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is the party with the most seats. The party claims to have gathered enough signatures to remove Muizzu from office. Along with other colleagues, an MDP MP informed the media outlet SunOnline that plans are on to file an impeachment motion against Muizzu. The proposition has not yet been made by the opposition parties.
A video of Parliament was released
The Maldives Parliament footage was leaked just one day before. Conflict between opposition and party MPs was observed in this video. Actually, opposition parties and pro-China Muizzu parties disagree on the issue of cabinet member approval. Four members were rejected by the MDP. Following this, Muizzu MPs began to demonstrate within the legislature. MPs Ahmed Isa, Abdul Hakeem Shaheem, and Abdullah Shaheem fought with one another after this. Shaheem sustains injuries as well. They moved toward the Speaker’s chair during their fight.
Four MDP and Democratic candidates for the Muizzu government had already been rejected by the parties. In the Maldives, Muizzu is also in charge of a coalition government. He needs the backing of a significant number of MPs in this circumstance. In the meantime, a motion of no confidence in the Speaker was tabled by the ruling party. The Speaker faced accusations that he was failing in his duties by endorsing a specific political party.
Bharat’s resistance worries the opposition in the Maldives as well
It should be noted that the Maldivian opposition is concerned about the opposition from Bharat. The former President had also objected to the distasteful comments made about Prime Minister Modi by Muizzu’s MPs. The Maldivian opposition is appearing more assertive in its power struggles after Muizzu and Bharat met. On November 17, 2018, the pro-China Muijju began to display his true colors as soon as he was elected President. He had requested Bharat to remove its military forces from the Maldives. He explained that this is the reason the Maldivians gave him their mandate.
