Karakat (Bihar), 30th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone and dedicated development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar. Addressing a massive public gathering, PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to peace, security, and prosperity, declaring that the days of fear, Maoist violence, and underdevelopment in Bihar are fast becoming a thing of the past.
“In this sacred land, I have once again had the privilege to take forward the journey of Bihar’s development,” said the Prime Minister, receiving a rousing welcome from thousands who had gathered. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the people of Bihar, especially the women and mothers, for their unwavering support.
Touching upon the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, PM Modi made an emotional appeal to the nation’s collective strength: “Those who sat in Pakistan and destroyed the Sindoor of our sisters, our brave army reduced their terror bases to rubble. The power of the Sindoor of India’s daughters has been witnessed by Pakistan and the world alike.”
He lauded the courage of BSF personnel, recalling the valour of BSF Sub-Inspector Shri Imtiaz of Bihar, who laid down his life on May 10. “Operation Sindoor was just one arrow from our quiver. If terror dares to rise again, we will crush it with equal might,” PM Modi said, his voice firm with resolve.
Development as a Response to Decades of Neglect
In a stirring speech, the Prime Minister reminded the audience of the grim past when Maoist threats loomed large over districts like Sasaram and Kaimur. “Earlier, development schemes failed to reach Naxal-affected villages. There were no hospitals, no schools, no mobile towers. Road workers were gunned down,” he said. “But today, only 18 districts across the country remain affected by Naxalism, down from 125 before 2014.”
He credited these changes to consistent efforts made over the last decade and emphasized that full eradication of Maoist violence is not far. “We are not just building roads; we are creating employment and ensuring education and healthcare reach every village,” he said.
Major Infrastructure Boost for Bihar
PM Modi highlighted key infrastructure upgrades, including the modernization of Patna Airport’s terminal, now capable of handling 1 crore passengers annually. He also inaugurated projects such as the Patna–Ara–Sasaram Greenfield Corridor and new bridges over the Ganga, Son, Gandak, and Kosi rivers.
“The days of broken highways and limited railways are behind us,” he declared. He pointed to the launch of Vande Bharat trains, the expansion of rail lines, and better train halts in towns like Sasaram. He also cited a ₹30,000 crore NTPC power project underway in Nabinagar and new thermal plants in Buxar and Pirpainti, aimed at powering Bihar’s growth.
Solar Push and Farmer Focus
Turning to agriculture and renewable energy, PM Modi spoke about a solar park being built in Kajra under the PM-KUSUM scheme, which enables farmers to earn from solar power while improving electricity access in rural areas.
He also highlighted that over 75 lakh farmers in Bihar are receiving financial support under PM-Kisan, and announced the establishment of a Makhana Board to boost local cultivation, along with the GI tag for Bihar’s famed makhana produce.
“We want to ensure that farmers earn more, stay closer to home, and aren’t forced to migrate for jobs,” PM Modi said. “New roads, better logistics, and investments mean that now our farmers can sell their crops far and wide.”
Empowerment Through Social Justice
In a strong critique of opposition parties, the Prime Minister accused them of abandoning Bihar’s poor in the name of social justice. “For decades, Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities lacked even the most basic services. They were denied access to banks, to housing, to sanitation,” he said.
Contrasting the past with the present, PM Modi said, “Today, four crore houses have been given to the poor. Three crore women are becoming Lakhpati Didis. Over 12 crore households now have tap water. This is true social justice—when every person gets what they rightly deserve.”
He emphasized that every elderly citizen above 70 now has access to ₹5 lakh worth of free medical treatment annually, and that free monthly ration is being provided to the underprivileged.
Bihar at the Center of New India’s Vision
Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Veer Kunwar Singh and the cultural richness of Sasaram, PM Modi declared that Bihar is at the heart of New India’s rise. “Development, peace, and dignity—these are not just promises, but our commitment to every village, every home in Bihar,” he said.
With Rs 48,520 crore worth of projects launched, and firm declarations on security and empowerment, the Prime Minister sent out a clear message: Bihar is on the path to becoming a powerhouse of progress, and the government is determined to take every citizen along.
