The concept of fostering a cultural connection between people from different regions was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas on October 31, 2015, in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. To further this idea, EBSB was launched on October 31, 2016.

Yuva Sangam, launched under EBSB, is inspired by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and focuses on experiential learning and gaining knowledge about India’s rich diversity firsthand.

It is an ongoing cultural exchange that celebrates diversity, allowing participants to immerse themselves in various aspects of life, natural landscapes, development milestones, recent achievements, and youth connections in the host state.

Phase III of Yuva Sangam will involve participants from 20 higher education institutions visiting 22 states and union territories.

Yuva Sangam is a government initiative that organizes exposure tours for youth, including on-campus and off-campus students, from one state to another. Participants will be provided with multidimensional exposure in five broad areas: Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connection), and Prodyogiki (Technology). During their 5-7 day visits to other states, youths will have the opportunity to experience various aspects of the state they are visiting and interact with local youth.

The participating ministries of EBSB include the Ministry of Education, Home Affairs, Culture, Tourism, Youth Affairs & Sports, I&B, and Railways, each with distinct roles and responsibilities for the implementation of their respective duties.

The Ministry of Education is responsible for selecting youth and organizing tours through higher education institutions.

Yuva Sangam has been organized collaboratively based on the model of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) and has received significant response and participation from all over India.

Over 3,240 individuals from across the country have participated in 73 tours in various phases of Yuva Sangam, including the pilot phase under EBSB.

It has instilled a sense of volunteerism in the nation’s youth, with Yuva Sangam delegates actively volunteering in NEP Celebrations, Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam held in Delhi in July 2023, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign, and various other nation-building activities.
