OFBJP UK President Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat Slams Malicious Campaign Against BJP, Hindutva in UK & West

GG News Bureau
London, 17th Oct: Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) UK President Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat has issued a strong statement dismissing what he termed “baseless and defamatory” allegations circulating on social media regarding him and his son, Karan Shekhawat.

In his official response, Shekhawat said, “These allegations are a deliberate attempt to malign me, damage the image of OFBJP UK, and weaken India’s growing global goodwill under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He described the charges as “politically motivated” and accused certain fringe elements of running an anti-Hindu and anti-BJP narrative in countries like the United States, Germany, and the UK.

Clarification on OFBJP UK
Shekhawat reiterated that OFBJP UK is a voluntary, unincorporated organisation, not a political entity, focused on engaging with the Indian diaspora and promoting India’s welfare overseas.

“All contributions are received transparently into an audited OFBJP account. I do not have personal control over any funds,” he clarified, dismissing reports of a “funding scandal” as fabricated misinformation.

He added that social media pages peddling such claims “have no formal structure, no registration, and no credibility,” asserting faith in the British legal system to uncover the truth.

Responding to online claims, Nikhil Pampatwar, a bonafide member of OFBJP-UK, said, “I am a member of OFBJP-UK. As you asked me about the so-called story about our President Shri Kuldeep Ji Shekhawat, it seems to be a baseless and concocted narrative designed to malign the BJP and Sanatan Hindutva.”

On Allegations Against His Son
Addressing the allegations against his 34-year-old son, Shekhawat stated, “He is an adult responsible for his own actions. To my knowledge, he has not been charged with any offence, nor is he on bail.”

He described the accusations as part of a malicious digital campaign aimed at tarnishing his family’s reputation and the OFBJP’s community work in Britain.

Anti-Hindu Narrative Growing in the West
The statement comes amid what Shekhawat and other Indian diaspora leaders describe as a widening anti-Hindu narrative in the West, allegedly fuelled by Khalistani groups, anti-India activists, and politically motivated lobbies.

“There is a clear pattern of targeting Hindu organisations and BJP-linked diaspora leaders across the UK, US, Canada, and Europe,” Shekhawat said, adding that such campaigns seek to “undermine India’s soft power and distort its global image.”

Pro-Khalistani elements are actively propagating an anti-Hindu agenda through misinformation campaigns to discredit Indian organisations and the diaspora in Western countries.

Background
The controversy follows online claims by vigilante groups alleging criminal conduct by Karan Shekhawat. However, no formal charges have been confirmed by the Metropolitan Police, and experts have raised concerns about the legitimacy and legality of vigilante-led “sting operations” in the UK.

Legal analysts note that such groups often operate outside due process and can cause reputational harm through unverified digital campaigns, an issue the Crown Prosecution Service has previously warned about.

Growing Concerns Over Media Bias
Observers point out that the episode reflects a broader hostility against Hindu voices in Western media and academia.

Incidents — such as the attack on journalist Rohit Sharma in Dallas while questioning Sam Pitroda about Hindu killings in Bangladesh during Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the US — have reignited debate on selective advocacy for press freedom and bias against Hindu concerns in global discourse.

While Rahul Gandhi’s camp often speaks about “shrinking media freedom in India,” such cases expose “double standards” when it comes to freedom of expression concerning Hindu issues abroad.

Shekhawat’s Stand
Concluding his statement, Shekhawat said, “Our faith in India and our cultural identity will not be shaken by smear campaigns. The Indian diaspora stands united against all attempts to divide our community or malign our nation.”

He hinted at possible legal action against individuals and groups spreading defamatory content online, calling it “a fight not just for my name, but for the dignity of every law-abiding Indian in the diaspora.”
