Kashmir, 4th Feb. On Sunday, Kashmir underwent an amazing transformation into a winter wonderland. But it was accompanied by a lot of snow, which caused chaos and forced the suspension of air travel.
“While the snow brings a magical charm, it certainly presents its own set of challenges,” one resident said in an interview with Republic, capturing the magical but difficult experience of living amidst the snow-covered landscapes.
Authorities reported heavy snowfall that affected plains and higher areas, which led to the suspension of flights at Srinagar International Airport. Speaking with Republic, an official confirmed that all flights had been canceled because of the runway’s accumulation of snow and poor visibility.

Even though air travel has temporarily suffered, things are looking up. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that there may be light to moderate snow through Sunday afternoon, after which conditions will gradually improve.
Monday is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of light snow in isolated higher reaches, according to the forecast. The Valley may have a window of opportunity to recover between February 6 and February 13, when the weather is predicted to be dry despite the disruptions. Despite the obstacles, locals are optimistic that things will quickly return to normal, particularly with regard to the restoration of air traffic.
