New Delhi, 1st Nov: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has ruled out any leadership change in the state, affirming that Nitish Kumar remains the Chief Minister with the full backing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking at NDTV Bihar Power Play in Patna, Choudhary told anchors Sumit Awasthi, Akhilesh Sharma, and Prabhakar Kumar that there was “no vacancy” for the Chief Minister’s post. “Bihar has seen a long, dark chapter. After Sri Krishna Sinha, the state saw many Chief Ministers for 40 years — none completed five years. Nitish Kumar brought development and stability. After 2005, boys and girls got school uniforms and cycles; the number of high schools rose from 2,000 to 10,000,” he said.

Responding to questions about whether the BJP now seeks greater dominance in the state, Choudhary remarked, “We are the makers.” He recounted the BJP’s role in Bihar’s political history: “In 1990, Lalu Prasad Yadav became Chief Minister with BJP’s support. But when he insulted Bihar, we parted ways. In 2000, Nitish Kumar had 34 MLAs while the BJP had 70, yet we backed him for the state’s interest.”

He further revealed that in 2020, Nitish Kumar was reluctant to assume the Chief Minister’s post but was persuaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “As long as Nitish Kumar is there, BJP considers him the Chief Minister. There are no two ways about it,” Choudhary concluded, reiterating party unity and trust in the alliance leadership.
