NMDC Launches Fully Sponsored Education Programs for Tribal Youth in Chhattisgarh

 NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, has invited applications for two major educational initiatives aimed at empowering tribal youth in Chhattisgarh under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The two programs—Balika Shiksha Yojana and a Medical Technology Program in collaboration with Apollo University—offer fully sponsored professional education opportunities for underprivileged students from the tribal belts of the state.

1. Balika Shiksha Yojana – Free Nursing Education for Tribal Girls

Under this flagship initiative, 100% free nursing education is being offered to tribal girls from Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Bijapur, and Narayanpur districts. The program includes:

  • 200 seats in total:
    • 110 seats for B.Sc. Nursing (4-year)
    • 90 seats for GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) (3-year)
  • Courses will be offered at Apollo School of Nursing, Yashoda School of Nursing, and KIMS College of Nursing in Hyderabad.
  • The program covers entire tuition, hostel, and academic costs, with NMDC investing ₹12–15 lakh per student.
  • Applicants must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category with a family income not exceeding ₹72,000 per annum.
  • Last date to apply: June 28, 2025.
2. Medical Technology Program – Allied Healthcare Education for Tribal Youth

In partnership with Apollo University, Chittoor, NMDC is also launching a Medical Technology Program for tribal boys and girls from Dantewada and Bastar districts.

  • 90 seats available, with 60% reserved for girls and 40% for boys.
  • The fully sponsored B.Sc. courses include:
    • Emergency Medical Technology
    • Medical Lab Technology
    • Anaesthesiology & Operation Theatre Technician
    • Imaging Technology
    • Physician Assistant
    • Renal Dialysis Technology
  • Each student will receive an investment of ₹12–15 lakh to cover academic and accommodation costs.
  • Last date to apply: June 30, 2025.

NMDC’s CSR initiatives have been instrumental in driving inclusive development in Chhattisgarh for over six decades. These new education programs aim to equip tribal youth with employable skills in the healthcare sector, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and improving access to quality education.
