Bhubaneswar, 13th Jan. NLC India Ltd, a Navratna Company under the Ministry of Coal, has awarded the EPC contract to BHEL to set up a new thermal power project in Odisha.
The project will have a capacity of 2,400 MW and will be based on Ultra Super Critical Technology.
The power generated from this project will be distributed to the states of Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Kerala, and Puducherry.
The contract includes the engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning of equipment for the project.
The coal required for the project will be sourced from Talabira II & III mines, and the water will be obtained from Hirakud Reservoir.
The project will also incorporate pollution control equipment to meet environmental guidelines. The first unit of the project is expected to be commissioned in the financial year 2028-29.
