New Delhi, 12th April. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived in Delhi on Tuesday and met with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, during which they were said to have discussed the current political situation as part of efforts to strengthen Opposition unity ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections against the BJP.

The meeting between the two Bihar politicians came on the same day that Mr Kumar’s deputy and Lalu Prasad’s son Tejashwi Yadav appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the alleged land-for-jobs scam.

Kumar arrived in the national capital and went to Misa Bharti’s house, where Lalu Prasad is staying.  Kumar inquired about Lalu Prasad’s health.

According to the source, they also discussed the current political situation. Kumar is expected to meet with several opposition leaders in Delhi, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Kumar has previously advised all opposition parties, including the Congress, to work together to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In February, Kumar claimed that if all opposition parties, including the Congress, fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together, the BJP would be limited to fewer than 100 seats.

The JD(U) supremo stated at a Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) rally in Purnea that the Congress must make a quick decision in this regard.

Kumar had previously visited Delhi in September of last year, where he met with leaders including Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, D Raja, Sitaram Yechury, and Akhilesh Yadav.

Bihar’s ruling coalition includes the JD(U), RJD, Congress, and Left parties.
