Chandigarh, 8th March. On Monday, once again the issue of non-admission of children of thousands of poor families of the state was heard under Rule 134A in the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha. Congress MLA Neeraj Sharma asked sharp questions to the government during the calling attention motion on Rule 134A.

Neeraj raised the question that why are the admissions of children from thousands of poor families across the state still not done? Poor parents are compelled to stage demonstrations in various districts of Haryana, but their children’s admissions are still not done. Why are those children denied admission despite passing the eligibility test?

Why is the government not concerned about the education of the children of the poor? In order to enroll their children in the severe winter of January, their parents had to come on the streets to protest, but the government has done nothing except to extend the date and till date thousands of children have not been able to get admission. If thousands of children from poor families who have got SLC cut from old schools are deprived of admission in private schools, then where should they go?

The Education Minister came forward to answer the questions of the MLA and was seen taking the excuse of the court and sometimes saying that the government is serious but he did not have any satisfactory answer to Neeraj’s questions. Independent Balraj Kundu, Congress’s Varun Chaudhary, Jagbir Malik, Shishpal Singh, Chiranjeev Rao also asked questions on the calling attention motion along with Neeraj.

On this, the Education Minister could not even tell that on 26 December 2021, under which rule, the Education Department issued a letter asking for the details of the family identity card from the poor children. Who allowed the rules to be tampered with after passing the eligibility test? Under Rule 134A, the complete figures were placed before the House, which the Education Minister could not give a satisfactory answer.
