New Delhi, 7th June. After the recent charge sheeting of Goldy Brar in the Karni Sena chief murder case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at nine locations across Punjab. These premises are associated with individuals connected to Goldy Brar, a designated terrorist, in a separate case related to extortion and firing incidents in Chandigarh. The NIA has also appealed to the public for any information regarding Brar and his gang.
The search operations, spanning locations in Mohali, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, and Fatehgarh Sahib, were aimed at gathering evidence in connection with a case involving extortion demands and gunfire targeting a resident in Chandigarh. Originally registered by local authorities on January 20, 2024, the NIA took over the investigation on March 18 under case number RC-03/2024/NIA/DLI.
The agency emphasized its commitment to dismantling criminal-terrorist activities within India, stating that the raids yielded incriminating digital material and devices. Investigations have revealed a criminal conspiracy involving Goldy Brar and an accomplice from Rajpura, Punjab, to extort funds from businessmen in Punjab, Chandigarh, and nearby regions. Additionally, they were implicated in arms trafficking, narcotics smuggling, and financing terrorist activities.
According to the NIA, Brar and his associates abroad have been actively recruiting vulnerable youth, engaging them in identifying extortion targets, carrying out shootings, and facilitating illegal trades. The agency reiterated its determination to disrupt the nexus between terrorists and criminal elements operating within the country, underscoring the ongoing efforts to safeguard national security.
