Chandigarh, 2nd March. Congress’s Neeraj Sharma was honored with the Best MLA award at the inauguration of the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha.
After the Governor’s budget address, this award was jointly given by the selection committee on the seat of the Speaker of the Assembly, Gyanchand Gupta.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kanwarpal Gurjar are also included in the special selection committee. On the lines of Lok Sabha, the tradition of this award has been started in the Vidhan Sabha as well since last year.
Assembly Speaker Gyanchand Gupta, Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda congratulated Neeraj Sharma.
As the Leader of the House, Manohar Lal said that this award is conferred for proper conduct according to the dignity of the House and the Constitution as well for doing excellent work as a public representative. There should be an urge and competition among all MLAs to get this award.
MLA Neeraj Sharma thanked the House including the selection committee for being chosen as the best MLA and said that this award has increased his responsibility towards the people of his area including the House.
Congress MLA Neeraj Sharma dedicated the best MLA award to his late father and former minister Pandit Shivcharan Lal Sharma. After receiving the award, he took his blessings by giving prize money, shawl and citation to his father-like elders Advocate Kanhaiya Lal Vashistha and Tularam Shastri present in the audience gallery.
To receive the award, Neeraj Sharma reached the chair of the president wearing a yellow kurta-dhoti, red jacket and Himachali cap. During this, while giving a check of honor amount of one lakh rupees, Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that now a feast should be made. Neeraj Sharma immediately said that he would host the famous potato-onion veg feast of Faridabad. President Gyanchand Gupta, while remembering the potato-onion veg, said that Union Minister of State Krishan Pal Gurjar used to feed this vegetable in Chandigarh. Neeraj said that this time he will arrange the same.
Neeraj Sharma has not received this award of the best MLA just like that. Neeraj has strictly adhered to constitutional limits both inside and outside the House. Neeraj has drawn attention of the house from his assembly constituency NIT Faridabad to many important issues of the state inside the house.
When Chief Minister Manohar Lal presented his first budget as Finance Minister, he said during the budget speech that MLA Neeraj Sharma had given him many suggestions for the budget. MLA Neeraj Sharma, who actively participated in the proceedings of the House from speaking in the House with full preparation on every subject, had also given up the facility of bodyguard, government flat available in Chandigarh as an MLA.
