Needonomics Key to Viksit Bharat 2047: Prof M.M. Goel at AGRASRI Dialogue

Tirupati, March 18: Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Propounder Needonomics School of Thought, former Vice-Chancellor, and superannuated Professor of Economics from Kurukshetra University, addressed an online policy dialogue titled “Towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Challenges, Strategies, and the Way Forward in the Needonomics Framework.” The event was organized by the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), Tirupati. Dr. D. Sundar Ram, Director of AGRASRI, delivered the welcome address and introduced Prof. M.M.Goel to the participants.

Prof. Goel observed that India stands at a historic moment in its development journey as it approaches the centenary of independence in 2047.

The vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, he said, is not merely about achieving higher economic growth but about creating a prosperous, inclusive, sustainable, and value-based society where every citizen can live with dignity.

Highlighting the limitations of conventional economic thinking that often promotes unlimited consumption, Prof. Goel emphasized the relevance of the Needonomics framework.

According to him, Needonomics stresses the distinction between needs and greed and advocates an economic system that ensures the fulfillment of essential human needs while promoting ethical values, social harmony, and environmental balance.

He identified several key challenges on the path to Viksit Bharat, including persistent inequality, unemployment and skill gaps, environmental degradation, and the erosion of ethical values in public life. Addressing these challenges, Prof Goel argued, requires a multidimensional strategy combining inclusive economic policies, value-based education, sustainable consumption practices, and stronger local economies.

Prof. Goel also stressed the importance of ethical leadership, transparent governance, and citizen participation in strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring effective policy implementation with street SMART (simple, moral, action-oriented , responsive and transparent ) governance.

Prof Goel noted that the journey towards Viksit Bharat is a national mission requiring collective effort, responsible living, and value-driven development. Integrating the principles of Needonomics into policy and practice, he said, can help build a prosperous India rooted in social justice, environmental sustainability, and human well-being.
