New Delhi, 18th Aug: NDA’s Vice Presidential nominee, Thiru CP Radhakrishnan, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. Following the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Radhakrishnan in a post on X.
PM Modi highlighted Radhakrishnan’s extensive public service and experience, stating, “His long years of public service and experience across domains will greatly enrich our nation. May he continue to serve the nation with the same dedication and resolve he has always demonstrated.”
A seasoned politician from Tamil Nadu with an RSS background, Radhakrishnan has a long and varied career. He has previously served as a two-time MP from Coimbatore, the Tamil Nadu BJP state president, and held gubernatorial roles in Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Puducherry. His nomination is widely seen as a strategic move to strengthen the BJP’s position in South India.
As the Vice President of India, he would serve as the second-highest constitutional office after the President and act as the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
