“NCC Shapes India’s Future Leadership,” says VP at R-Day Camp

New Delhi, 5th Jan: The Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, on Monday inaugurated the NCC Republic Day Camp 2026 at the DGNCC Camp in New Delhi, hailing the organisation as a cornerstone in shaping disciplined, patriotic and service-oriented youth.
Extending New Year greetings to the cadets, the Vice-President said that in its 78th year, the National Cadet Corps has evolved into the world’s largest uniformed youth organisation and continues to nurture responsible citizens who will form the backbone of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Calling the Republic Day Camp a living symbol of India’s unity, he said the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline” reflects the nation’s collective strength, as cadets from diverse states and Union Territories live and train together.
Recalling the role of NCC cadets during Operation Sindoor, VP Radhakrishnan said nearly 72,000 cadets volunteered for civil defence duties, showcasing courage, commitment and readiness to serve in times of national need.
The Vice-President also welcomed the modernisation of NCC training, including cyber and drone programmes and the establishment of a Remote Pilot Training Academy, saying these initiatives would prepare youth to meet emerging technological and security challenges.
He appreciated the NCC’s contribution in disaster relief, environmental initiatives and international youth exchange programmes, and praised cadets for their service during the Wayanad floods in Kerala.
Earlier, VP Radhakrishnan inspected a Guard of Honour, visited the NCC Hall of Fame and exhibition stalls showcasing disaster preparedness and drone training initiatives. He later witnessed cultural performances by cadets and interacted with them, commending their discipline, enthusiasm and national pride.
