New Delhi, 19th Nov: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday termed natural farming as India’s “own scientific path” for the future of agriculture, while inaugurating the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
At the event, the Prime Minister released the 21st instalment of PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, transferring ₹18,000 crore directly to nine crore farmers across the country. He said more than ₹4 lakh crore has been disbursed under the scheme so far, offering crucial support particularly to small and marginal farmers.
PM Modi highlighted concerns over rising input costs and declining soil fertility caused by heavy chemical fertiliser usage. He urged farmers to adopt the “One Acre, One Season” model to gradually shift towards natural farming that revives soil and enhances nutritional value of produce.
The Prime Minister said South India has been at the forefront of modern agricultural practices and water conservation, making the region a natural host for a sustainability-oriented summit. He called on agricultural universities and scientists to scale up research and curriculum focused on natural, environment-friendly cultivation.
The event witnessed participation of Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, along with farmer representatives and agricultural experts from across the region.
