Ahmedabad, 20th Nov: The Adani Group, in partnership with the Ministry of Education’s Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), is hosting a national programme to revitalise the field of Indology at the Adani Corporate House in Ahmedabad from November 20 to 22.

Indology — the study of India’s civilisation, languages, philosophies, sciences and cultural heritage — has seen declining institutional support globally. The initiative aims to reassert India’s leadership in shaping research on its knowledge systems and present them through an authentic Indian perspective.

Launched under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, IKS promotes interdisciplinary research, preservation of ancient texts and cultural practices, and their application in modern sectors such as science, engineering, environment, linguistics and healthcare.

As part of the effort, a five-year funding programme worth ₹13.16 crore has been initiated to support 14 PhD scholars across top academic institutions. The selected researchers will work in domains including Paninian grammar and computational linguistics, traditional astronomy, indigenous healthcare models, sustainable engineering, political thought, classical literature and heritage studies. The scholars were chosen through a rigorous national consultation involving IITs, IIMs and eminent experts.

The collaboration aims to integrate classical knowledge with advanced technological tools such as data science, systems modelling and multimodal archiving, ensuring that Indology strengthens its relevance in global academia and contributes to contemporary intellectual discourse.
