SITAB DIARA, 11th Oct: Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, paid homage to Bharat Ratna Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan on his 123rd birth anniversary at the ancestral village of Sitab Diara in Saran district, Bihar.

The Vice-President visited the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Memorial, Smriti Bhavan, and Pustakalaya, offering floral tributes and reflecting on the life and ideals of one of India’s most respected leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Radhakrishnan described Lok Nayak as a true people’s hero and conscience keeper of Indian democracy. He highlighted Jayaprakash Narayan’s vision of “People above Politics” and “Nation above Self,” emphasizing that Lok Shakti (power of the people) should always prevail over Rajya Shakti (power of the State).

He recalled the Total Revolution Movement of the 1970s, noting that it was a revolution of ideas rather than arms, aimed at clean governance, youth empowerment, and social transformation. Shri Radhakrishnan also recounted his personal association with the movement as a youth leader in Coimbatore.

The Vice-President paid tribute to Smt. Prabhavati Devi, the spouse of Lok Nayak, for her sacrifices and commitment to the nation’s freedom movement. He urged the nation to renew its commitment to Jayaprakash Narayan’s ideals of truth, justice, non-violence, and people’s empowerment, particularly in building a Viksit Bharat@2047.
