New Delhi, 2nd Nov. The Namo Bharat train will commence operations two hours earlier than usual at 6 am on Sunday, November 3, in celebration of Bhai Dooj, according to a statement from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The trains will run with increased frequency to accommodate the holiday.

Typically, train services on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor start at 8 am on Sundays, but this special schedule will allow passengers to board as early as 6:00 am, continuing until 10:00 pm. Regular Namo Bharat services operate from 6 am Monday to Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 17-kilometre priority section of the corridor, connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, on October 20, 2023. This was followed by the inauguration of an additional 17-kilometre stretch from Duhai to Modinagar North on March 6, and the operationalization of Meerut South RRTS Station on August 18.

Currently, Namo Bharat services cover a 42-kilometre stretch with nine stations, and the corridor is set to expand to 54 kilometres with the addition of the Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar section, including key stops like Anand Vihar.

Once the full 82-kilometre corridor is completed by June 2025, it will enable passengers to travel from Delhi to Meerut in under an hour, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and improving the overall commuter experience.
