New Delhi, 16th Sept: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister and Chemicals & Fertilizers Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today underscored the pivotal role of India’s MedTech sector in delivering affordable, innovative healthcare during the inaugural session of the 11th Asia Pacific MedTech Forum (APACMed) 2025.
Addressing the gathering via video message, Nadda said the MedTech industry—spanning diagnostics, advanced devices, digital health, and AI-driven solutions—has become a trusted provider of high-quality healthcare. “This sector is critical to making healthcare more accessible and efficient for every citizen,” he stated, adding that APACMed’s theme aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047.
Highlighting the forum’s four thematic pillars—unlocking India for global MedTech leadership, limitless innovation, value-driven outcomes, and scaling investments—Shri Nadda expressed confidence that deliberations would help make India a global hub for medical technology.
Union Minister of State for Health and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Smt. Anupriya Patel, said India is emerging as “not only a high-volume manufacturer but also a high-value player in the global MedTech market.”
She invited stakeholders to co-create solutions for both India’s 1.4 billion citizens and wider emerging markets. Patel cited government measures such as 100% FDI, the Export Promotion Council, and the National Medical Devices Promotion Council to boost investment and exports.
NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr. Vinod K. Paul detailed reforms including the National Medical Devices Policy 2023, the Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma-MedTech Sector (PRIP), and Productivity Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes to drive R&D and domestic manufacturing.
APACMed President John Collings said the forum—attended by senior policymakers, global industry leaders, regulators, and healthcare experts from over 10 Asia-Pacific nations—aims to harmonize regulatory standards and expand access to advanced healthcare. The two-day event, themed “Swastha Bharat – A Healthier India, Together,” runs in New Delhi from 16–17 September 2025.
