New Delhi, 10th Feb. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) organized the “Road to Paris 2024: Championing Clean Sports and Uniting for Anti-Doping” Conference in New Delhi on Friday.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur virtually inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Nutritional Supplements Testing (CoE-NSTS) at the prestigious National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, acknowledging its significance as a leading institution in forensic and cyber sciences.
The conference, held at the India International Centre, provided a vital platform for stakeholders in the sporting community to converge, deliberate, and strategize on key anti-doping initiatives ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024.
In his keynote address, Anurag Singh Thakur underscored the principles of fair play, competition spirit, and integrity in sports. He commended Indian athletes’ dedication and resilience and emphasized NADA’s role in strengthening the nation’s anti-doping framework.
Anurag Singh Thakur highlighted the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Nutritional Supplements Testing as part of the Ministry’s goal to develop testing facilities in India, aligning with global standards.
Speaking on India’s journey towards Paris 2024, the Minister praised Indian athletes’ performance at global events, attributing it to their resilience and talent.
He applauded NADA’s efforts in promoting clean sports and enforcing anti-doping measures, recognizing its crucial role in educating athletes and conducting tests.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting NADA and the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) to ensure accurate and reliable testing procedures.
The conference saw the launch of “Essential Insights & Facts on Nutritional Supplements” publication and “The Paris Pinnacle: NADA’s Guide to Ethical Sporting”, offering valuable resources for athletes.
Esteemed dignitaries, including government officials, sports federation representatives, industry stakeholders, and media professionals, participated in the conference, reaffirming India’s commitment to advocating for clean sports globally.
