Mystery Surrounds Jaipur Couple’s Death, Suicide or Murder?

Jaipur, 30th June: A married couple was found dead under suspicious circumstances at their flat in the Muhana area of Jaipur on Friday, prompting police to investigate the case from multiple angles, including suicide and possible murder.

The deceased, identified as Dharmendra, a sales manager with a private bank, and his wife Suman, were discovered after Dharmendra failed to report to work and did not respond to phone calls. Concerned, a friend asked a family member to check on the couple. Upon opening the door, the bodies were found lying on the floor of the residence.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deaths may have been a case of suicide, though officials have not ruled out foul play. CCTV footage reviewed by the police shows the couple in what appeared to be a heated argument on Thursday afternoon in the apartment’s parking area. Suman was seen trying to prevent Dharmendra from driving away. The exchange later softened, and the two were seen walking away with Dharmendra’s arm around his wife.

Later that evening, another CCTV clip captured the couple entering their flat together. Suman was carrying a bag. That footage was the last visual record of the couple alive.

“This appears to be a case of death by suicide. However, if there are signs suggesting murder, we will investigate accordingly,” said police officer Gur Bhupendra.

While neighbours and friends claimed the couple had no visible financial troubles—they had purchased the flat a year ago—Suman’s father, Ajay Singh, alleged that there were injury marks on her body and demanded that the police consider the murder angle seriously. “There was no marital discord. The injuries on my daughter’s body raise questions,” he said.

The couple’s two daughters, aged 11 and 8, were away in Bharatpur with their grandparents for the summer holidays at the time of the incident.

No signs of forced entry or theft were found in the flat, leading police to believe that the act may have been deliberate and possibly mutual. The couple’s mobile phones have been sent for forensic analysis in the hope of uncovering any clues that could shed light on the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
