Pune, 12th August. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Member of Parliament Supriya Sule said on Sunday that her phone and WhatsApp have been hacked.
In a post on X, Sule urged the public not to call or text her, stating, “My phone and WhatsApp have been hacked. Please do not call or text me. I have reached out to the police for help.”
The incident comes amid a busy political period for Sule, as her party’s Shiv Swarajya Yatra (SSY) commenced on Friday from the historic Shivneri Fort in Pune’s Junnar. The yatra is part of the party’s campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. NCP Maharashtra state chief Jayant Patil highlighted the symbolic importance of the launch date, August 9, marking Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Quit India’ call and the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
In recent electoral news, Supriya Sule retained her Baramati seat in the Lok Sabha by a substantial margin of over 1.55 lakh votes, defeating her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar, who was making her political debut. Sule secured 7,32,312 votes against Pawar’s 5,73,979. The victory was notable given the high-profile nature of the contest, influenced by internal party dynamics and familial political rivalries.
The contest in Baramati saw significant engagement from both Sule and Ajit Pawar, who had split from the NCP led by Sharad Pawar. The high-stakes battle included active campaigning by Sharad Pawar and numerous public meetings by Ajit Pawar, marking a significant chapter in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
