Patna, 2nd Sept:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday tore into the Congress-RJD alliance in Bihar, accusing them of hurling vile slurs at his late mother, Heeraben Modi, during a campaign stage event. Modi said the insult was not just personal but an affront to “every mother and sister of India.”

“In Bihar, slangs were used for my mother from an RJD-Congress stage. These slangs have not just insulted my mother, but every mother and sister in India. I know you are pained as much as I am,” Modi said, his voice charged with emotion, while addressing nearly 20 lakh women via video conferencing at the launch of Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited.

PM Modi Remembers His Mother’s Struggles

Speaking at length about his late mother, Heeraben, who passed away in December 2022, Modi recounted her life of hardship.
“Mother would be sick, but she kept working. She saved every penny to stitch clothes for us. There are crores of such mothers in our country. The place of a mother is higher than that of gods and goddesses,” he said.

Attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, Modi said,

“Princes born with silver spoons cannot understand the suffering of an underprivileged mother. They think power in Bihar belongs to their families. But you blessed a poor mother’s son and made him pradhan sevak. The naamdars cannot digest this.”

“New Low In Politics”

The outrage stems from a viral video in Bihar’s Darbhanga, where a group of youngsters on a stage decorated with Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s images were heard shouting abuses aimed at the Prime Minister’s mother.

The BJP blasted the incident as “a new low in Indian politics.”
“This has crossed all limits of insult and hate. Even if Rahul and Tejashwi hold their ears and do a thousand squats, Bihar’s people will never forgive them,” the party said on X.

Opposition Hits Back

The Congress and RJD quickly distanced themselves, insisting neither Gandhi nor Yadav were present at the event. Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera alleged “BJP’s agents” infiltrated the stage to provoke controversy.
“They are frustrated with our yatra and want to divert attention,” Khera said.

RJD’s Mrityunjay Tiwari accused Modi of “using his mother as a political shield.”
“The Prime Minister’s mother is respected, but he should not exploit her memory for votes. Why is he silent when Sonia Gandhi is abused?” he asked.

Congress leader Udit Raj went further, claiming Modi was deliberately “politicising personal pain.”

PM Modi Lists Past Insults

This is not the first time, Modi reminded his audience, that the Opposition has used crude language against him.

“They have called me neechgandi nali ka keeda, a snake… now they call me ‘tu’. This is their culture of abuse,” he said, framing the latest controversy as part of a long pattern of disrespect.
